Alaska Airlines and Air Italy passengers will soon have access to new destinations thanks to an interline agreement between the two airlines, as announced Friday. The agreement means that Air Italy will add 10 new destinations across North America for its passengers. Alaska Airlines has also faced increasing competition from low-cost airlines. A competing Alaskan airline was MarkAir. Since its in operation in 1984, competition had been restricted because it had developed feeder agreements with Alaska Airlines. After refusing to buy the airline in the fall of 1991, Alaska Air intensified competition with Alaska. Mark Air offered low-cost services on the Anchorage-Seattle route and other alaska routes, where Alaska Airlines made nearly a third of its sales. It hurt Alaska Airlines. For the first time in 20 years, it recorded a loss of $121 million. To save money, the airline announced two planned maintenance facilities and moved a $2 billion purchaser. However, it has been able to increase the utilization rate of its existing aircraft. The airline also reduced labour costs, straining relations with unions.
LuvToGo20 – as an FYI, airlines must have an interline agreement to allow you to book an itinerary with several airlines on a single ticket. Therefore, by definition, the answer is “yes,” and also yes, your bags will be checked by. I have bags back and forth with Alaska and the New Zealand Air interlined. It`s not only financially boring, it also throws a wrench into travel plans, as intermediate warehouses now need more time to account for baggage delivery. I have a trip to come in January. BOS-JFK on AA (paid for this flight), then JFK-HKG on CX (F-premium flight). Does AA allow me to interline my bag to BOS to HKG, even though these are separate bookings? It`s not like we have to pick up the bag from JFK, change the terminals and check them again. Thank you! However, for now, the Interline agreement is the only confirmed partnership between the two airlines. While Air Italy`s official press release sounds as if the Interline agreement has already entered into force, Interline-Reisen is not yet available on the airline`s website or through online travel agencies (OTA). This is not the case if the two airlines you fly have an Interline baggage agreement. These agreements go to booking airfares with other airlines as well as accommodation for latecomers, but what we are interested in are baggage rules. If they only want the tax, they could certainly offer to Interline, but you have to pay at the door for your connection.
